2. Tap appliances to switch them on or off

3. Add solar panels? ☀️ (assumes skies clear and you get 5 strong-sun hours a day, 10 AM to 3 PM)

🔋 Hours with power (of 72):

Storm goal: 72 hours

Want real numbers for your house?

☀️ Curious how fast panels refill your battery? Try the Solar Charge Time Calculator or read how long to charge with solar.

This game uses typical average wattages (a fridge’s compressor cycles, so it averages far below its running watts). For your exact devices, use the runtime calculator, compare all models in the spec database, or read what size power station do I need, power stations for CPAP, how long a power station runs a fridge and can a power station run a space heater.

How it works: hours ≈ rated Wh × 0.85 ÷ total average watts. Solar mode: the storm starts at 6 PM; you score every hour you have power (the battery can die overnight and come back with the sun); solar adds panel watts (capped at the unit’s max solar input) × 0.7 for 5 hours a day, a rough planning assumption. Overload = total running watts above the unit’s rated AC output. Startup surges, battery age, temperature and settings change real results. Wattages are rough estimates; check your device labels. Specs from manufacturer pages, checked Oct 16, 2026. For fun and rough planning only, not a guarantee. Safety: never plug a power station into a wall outlet to power your home (backfeeding); use an electrician-installed transfer switch. CPAP users, check with your doctor or supplier before relying on battery power.
